William R. Davie Dinner

davie_din_2014_foltOriginally founded in 1994 by a group of Charlotte alumni, the inaugural William R. Davie Dinner was intended to be a grand gathering of Tar Heels currently residing in Charlotte to share fond memories of their time in Chapel Hill, share a meal with each other and hear from a prominent speaker with ties to the University. From the beginning any revenue in excess of expenses has been given to the Charlotte Carolina Club Scholarship Fund to support UNC students from Charlotte. That tradition has continued to the present day.

The Davie Dinner is supported each year by a number of generous supporters. There are three supporter levels for the event – Davie Poplar ($1,000), Old Well ($500) and Bell Tower ($250). Each level includes two seats at the Davie Dinner. To become a supporter of a future event contact Tanea Pettis ’95 at tanea_pettis@unc.edu or (919) 843-9694 to be included in the list of interested supporters.

Funds raised at the Davie Dinner have been the main source of contributions to the Charlotte Carolina Club Scholarship Fund over the years. Since 1994, net proceeds from the Davie Dinner combined with other funds raised by the Charlotte Carolina Club have supported 91 Charlotte-area Carolina students with a total of $120,525 in scholarships.

Contributions may be made directly to the Charlotte Carolina Club Scholarship Fund by visiting this site, selecting “Regional Scholarships” in the first box and “Charlotte Carolina Club” in the second box, then following the remaining on-screen instructions.
